CTTR: Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research

Researchers within the Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research bring together a number of disciplines to investigate internationalism, cosmopolitanism, and other ways of thinking about culture and identity, in history and in the present. Principal focus areas in transnational and transcultural research include:

Staff within the Centre for Historical Research are building bridges between Past and researching a variety of subjects including:

The International Centre for Creative Industries and Critical Cultural Practices (CICCUP)

CICCUP explores creative industries and digital culture through interdisciplinary research, addressing key social, cultural and environmental issues. Key areas include:

  • Pedagogic innovation and development
  • Diversity, inclusion, and decolonial 
  • Cultural memory, heritage and social critique

Law Research Centre

Law research staff are at the heart of a vibrant and inclusive law research community containing a number of specialist groups: Corporate, Financial, Insolvency, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, Policing, Anti-terrorism, Human Rights, ADR and Mediation and Property Law.

Institute for Community Research and Development (ICRD)

ICRD uses interdisciplinary expertise to improve lives in the region through research driven policy development, social mobility initiatives and impactful community based projects. Since 2017, it has worked collaboratively with local communities and partners to deliver meaningful, sustainable change. The centre undertakes research across four key themes:

  • Social and Community Wellbeing
  • Criminal Justice and Violence Prevention
  • Tackling Inequalities through Heritage and the Arts
  • Migration and Mobilities

Centre for Psychological Research

Focusing on numerous applied and theoretical areas of psychology, including: health psychology, counselling psychology, cognitive psychology, cyberpsychology, forensic and investigative psychology, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Research Institute of Healthcare Science (RIHS)

The Research Institute of Healthcare Science (RIHS) is a cross-school initiative supporting interdisciplinary research in the niche areas of healthcare science activities. There is a distinctive emphasis trying to ensure that the findings of academic research are quickly and effectively translated into clinical practice.

Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre (SPARC)

Three research clusters within the Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre focus on exploring how physical activity and sport can be used to enhance health, boost performance and promote overall wellbeing. Research areas include:

CAIR delivers inclusive, world class health research and teaching that improves health outcomes, reduces inequalities and advances healthcare professional practice. Construction Futures Research Centres (CFRC)

Construction Futures is a research centre within the School of Architecture and Built Environment that brings together Architecture, Built Environment, Civil Engineering and Geography to deliver people-centred, industry focused research with real world impact - that shapes policy, enhances organisational practices and drives the development of Smart Cities. The research focus areas for this centre includes:

CIDT is a research centre within the University of Wolverhampton, delivering practical capacity strengthening services in 140 countries. Its specialist services support international development agencies, projects and programmes to improve capacity and development effectiveness. Services include:

The Centre for Research in Education and Social Transformation (CREST) brings together researchers who are deeply committed to addressing social justice, inclusion and innovation in education.

CREST’s work is not just academic it’s deeply rooted in practice and policy. By working closely with schools, communities and international partners, they aim to make real world impact. Their research helps shape more equitable education systems, informed by diversity, inclusion and innovation.

Centre for Cyber Resilience and Artificial Intelligence (CYBRAI)

CYBRAI drives research and innovation in cyber security and AI, bringing together academia, industry, and government to build a resilient digital ecosystem. The Centre aims to tackle global challenges across critical infrastructure, IoT security, applied machine learning, healthcare, and next-generation security architectures.
