Make your firm competitive by developing your governance

In a time of great challenges and disruptions, sheer hard work and current market share do not guarantee your firm’s future success. There is also a need to work smarter and strategically. We contend that this is governance’s task in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

We provided an opportunity to review and benchmark your board work with other European firms of the same size by joining carefully selected and competent partners. This has been enabled through project GoSMEs, a research project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 748905, at the University of Wolverhampton.

In February 2019 we invited you to take part in a survey of your current governance practices.

The survey aimed to:

  • give you a systematic account of your current conduct, and
  • offer new insights into its strengths and possible development potentials.

Those who completed the survey were invited to a conference arranged by the project and its partners. At the conference, researchers and practitioners discussed state-of-the-art knowledge on governance of SMEs. There will also be the opportunity for you to benchmark your governance with European SMEs in the UK, Sweden and Denmark.

In partnership with ‘Board Governance A/S’,  a Danish company with a  focus on governance training and development, we offered you free access to an advanced digital platform for effective board governance in your firm that will help you to structure your development right from the start.

Thank you to everyone who took part. We are currently working on the final report.
