Symplectic Elements Training

To introduce users to Elements there will be a number of face to face, drop in and online sessions available for users to attend. 

The training for users of Symplectic Elements, will be done in three phases; 

  • Phase 1 - Staff/Doctoral Student Profile Building Sessions (continuous phase from launch)
  • Phase 2- Research Manager Training (July/August 2019)
  • Phase 3 - Assessment Module Training (Summer 2019)

Training Session Descriptions

Staff profile building sessions will include a brief overview of Elements, how to setup a Researcher Profile; claiming publications, depositing through WIRE, creating links between objects, viewing and amending publications, grants, impact, professional activities and teaching activities. 

The staff profile building sessions are open to all Staff with a Research-only or Teaching and Research role profile.

This session will be interactive with staff members being able to begin building their profiles.

Student profile building sessions will include a brief overview of Elements, how to setup a Researcher Profile; entering profile information, claiming publications, creating links between objects, recording professional activities, impact and teaching activities, searching the system and exporting an Academic CV.

The student profile building sessions are available to all our current Doctoral Students.

The drop-in sessions enables users to come and speak with the training lead about any problems they are having with Elements. The training lead is then available to sit with users and offer advice and guidance.

This content of this session will be dependent on the users who attend.

An Elements Awareness Session consists of an overview of Elements and a short demo. 

This will build awareness of what Elements is, the benefits of using it, the userbase of Elements and provides a demonstration of some of Elements features such as; Automatic Claiming and demonstrating the new process for depositing to WIRE for Elements Users.

This session is for staff who have been selected as a reviewer for our output review process as detailed in our Code of Practice.

The session covers; extracts from the Code of Practice, top tips and a demonstration on how to conduct your review in Elements.
