University achieves improvements across the board according to National Student Survey

09/07/2025

Students at the University of Wolverhampton have expressed increased satisfaction with their academic experience, according to the latest results from the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS).

The University saw improvements across several core areas, with Assessment and Feedback recording a 4.5-point score above other universities. This reflects the University's above-average performance in supporting student learning and academic development.

Other key areas such as Learning Opportunities and Student Voice also received high marks, highlighting a growing culture of engagement and responsiveness to student needs. These results underscore the University’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the student experience and delivering high-quality education.

Professor Gill Knight, Pro Vice Chancellor Academic Leadership and Student Experience, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the 2025 National Student Survey results, which show improvements across all seven core themes of student satisfaction. This is a fantastic testament to the dedication and hard work of our academic and professional services staff, who work together to deliver an outstanding student experience.

“It’s especially rewarding to see that we are performing above the sector average in four key areas, including teaching quality, assessment and feedback, and student voice. These results show that our students recognise our commitment to excellent teaching, meaningful support, and—crucially—that we listen and respond to their feedback.

“I want to thank every student who took the time to complete the survey. Your input helps us understand what we’re doing well and where we can continue to improve. These results are a moment of real pride for the University, and we look forward to building on this success.”

The National Student Survey (NSS) is an independent, UK-wide survey conducted annually to gather feedback from final-year undergraduate students about their experiences in higher education. Two thousand eligible students from the University of Wolverhampton took part, which equates to a 75% completion rate.

The survey is managed by the Office for Students (OfS) on behalf of the UK’s higher education funding and regulatory bodies. The NSS plays a crucial role in shaping the future of teaching and learning across universities and colleges in the United Kingdom.
