Alumnus Theo’s new film is ready to drop
BBC1xtra Radio presenter and University of Wolverhampton graduate, Theo Johnson, has directed, written, and starred in a new independent film, which has just been released.
Theo, 30, from Birmingham, studied for a degree in Drama at the University of Wolverhampton, graduating in 2014, and since then has established a diverse career in entertainment. He is a BBC1extra Radio presenter, model, public speaker, filmmaker and actor, and his work has appeared on Netflix, BBC, Amazon, and Channel 4.
Despite his speedy rise to success and fame, Theo has remained grounded and pays tribute to his experience studying at the University. He said: “Doing the course at the University of Wolverhampton gave me all the skills necessary to become a great actor, director, and script writer. The great tutors who guided me through the directing & script writing classes, gave me everything I needed to be where I am today.”
Just Two Drops was released on LinkUpTV on 29 October after premiering at an exclusive screening at Odeon Luxe, Covent Garden, on 27 October.
The film is the highly anticipated sequel to Just One Drop which was released in 2022, reaching an audience of over a million people and listed on Amazon Prime.
Just Two Drops is an educational drama that portrays life in a broken home, blighted by drugs and crime, and focusing on the devastation caused by acid attacks.
Alongside Theo, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Junior Andrew, son of Peter Andre and Katie Price, Khali Best from Eastenders, Junior Afolabi Salokun known for Blue Story, and Jourdan Riane, who appeared on Love Island in 2019.
Speaking about his motivation and pride for the film, Theo said: “It feels good to be able to independently raise £70,000 and create a film that raises awareness about acid attacks.”
Looking ahead, Theo has no plans to slow down; he has three feature film scripts and series in the pipeline, which he is working hard to get commissioned.
Graduates are encouraged to keep in touch with the Alumni team and take advantage of a range of benefits and support on offer to them including a discount for Postgraduate study and opportunities to benefit from volunteering and career advice.
