University celebrates alumni from across the globe with awards ceremony
The University of Wolverhampton’s annual Alumni Awards ceremony is being held on Tuesday 27 June in The Chancellor’s Hall at City Campus, from 5.30 pm.
This is the 2nd annual Alumni Awards ceremony, recognising the incredible achievements, careers and impact of the University's alumni and dedicated volunteers.
This year there have been over 170 nominations across the eight award categories and there are 25 finalists including CEOs, Presidents, Heads and Directors of major companies, award winning creative specialists, an international bestselling author and cutting-edge researchers making a global impact.
Categories include the Alumni Service Award, Professional Excellence Award, Entrepreneurial Award, Leadership Award, Global Impact Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Hall of Fame Class of 2023 Induction and Outstanding Career Service Award.
Two of the finalists are Manolo Mantera, an Oscar-winning special effects designer who worked on the Netflix series of Stranger Things as well as blockbuster Hollywood movies and Abi Dare, best-selling writer and author of The Girl with the Louding Voice.
David Wedge, Deputy Head of Alumni Relations at the University, said: “These awards are a very special occasion in the University's calendar and we’re really looking forward to welcoming some of our most inspiring and celebrated graduates from across the globe.
“Our alumni provide inspiration for our current students, for staff who taught them and for applicants who are looking to study at the University. It’s truly amazing to see how far some of our graduates have travelled and we wanted to officially recognise this and to celebrate their individual achievements.
“The ceremony will be livestreamed on YouTube and is free to watch and we hope that as many people as possible – alumni, staff, students and members of the public as well as our key stakeholders – tune in to celebrate with us.”
Graduates are encouraged to keep in touch with the Alumni team and take advantage of a range of benefits and support on offer to them including a discount for Postgraduate study and opportunities to benefit from volunteering and career advice.
Anyone interested in courses being offered should check out the website or register for one of our forthcoming Open Days.
