Innovative construction expert builds on success with an honorary award
An innovative construction expert has built on his success by being awarded an honorary degree by the University of Wolverhampton.
Mark Farmer, CEO and Founding Director of Cast, has been recognised for his innovative approach to construction and housebuilding and his commitment to improving and revolutionising modes and methods of construction.
With over 30 years’ experience in construction and real-estate, Mark is a recognised international commentator on a variety of industry and policy related issues.
Mark authored The Farmer Review, an influential 2016 independent government review of the UK’s construction labour model entitled Modernise or Die and in 2019 he was appointed as the government’s Champion for Modern Methods of Construction in Housebuilding.
The University of Wolverhampton presented an Honorary Doctor of Professional Practice to Mark at a graduation ceremony on Friday 10 September 2021.
Mark said: “I am absolutely delighted to be awarded this honorary doctorate. It is especially meaningful as the University of Wolverhampton is doing so much to support my drive to modernise the construction industry through its innovative learning and research activity. I look forward to continuing my close relationship with the university in order to drive change through my work with the West Midlands Combined Authority, central government and with industry.”
Mark is a member of the Construction Innovation Hub Industry Board, the Construction Leadership Council Senior Advisors Group, a board member for Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, national co-chair of Constructing Excellence and is a trustee of the Ministry of Building Innovation and Education (MOBIE) educational charity.
The University of Wolverhampton graduation ceremonies are taking place at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton from Thursday 9 September – Friday 17 September 2021.
The 17 ceremonies will see over 3,000 students who completed their studies in 2020 collect their awards.
It is the first time the University has held a graduation ceremony since December 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
