University of Wolverhampton in City of Wolverhampton Business Week 2020

The University of Wolverhampton is participating in the City of Wolverhampton Business Week 2020 which is taking place virtually next week (21 – 25 September).

The University will be holding two online sessions and a University representative will be a panel member for the 'Let’s Talk Skills' event.

The majority of the webinars throughout the week will be pre-recorded but hosts will be available for live Q&A on the day.

The first University session is ‘Building a World-Class Centre for Sustainable Construction’.

Businesses across the construction sector and its supply chain are invited to discover plans for a centre for sustainable construction and circular economy and how this will support businesses across the region.

The second University session is ‘Discover how to use proven technologies for digital innovation to grow your business’.

Delegates attending this session will learn about the seven emerging technologies that are driving efficiency and opportunities for companies: immersive technologies; artificial intelligence and machine learning; big data and analytics; cyber security; 5G and wireless technologies; the Internet of Things (IoT) and sensors; and 3D Printing and Robotics.

They will discover what these technologies are, gain insight into the relevance for their business, and how to prioritise these against their technology strategy. Participants will learn how to harness emerging technologies to recover more quickly from the impacts of COVID-19 on their business.

Both sessions take place on Monday 21 September, 09:00 – 11:00 and at 16:15 – 17:00 respectively. Free places can be booked on via the Wolverhampton Business Week website.

On Wednesday 23 September, Christina Blakey, Strategic Business Development Manager (Skills) from the University will be joined by peers from the City of Wolverhampton College and GTG Training Academy for the ‘Let’s Talk Skills’ webinar. The panel members will share how their institutions are responding to meet current and future workforce skills and how they are adapting to support students and learners.
