Student Paramedic gets ambulance work experience

22/06/2020

A University of Wolverhampton student paramedic is one of a number of first year degree students that have been supporting frontline keyworkers across the region during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hannah Chappell, 22 from Shropshire, started her Paramedic Science degree at the University’s Walsall Campus in January 2020.

She is currently working as a Vehicle Preparation Assistant with West Midlands Ambulance Service, based at the Shrewsbury Hub.

She said: “I chose to study Paramedic Science because I wanted to do a job that helps people, but I also wanted to be out and about and not tied to an office.

“I’m really happy to help during these difficult times and knowing my way around an ambulance is really going to help me with my studies and course placement.

“Night shifts have taken a bit of getting used to, but it’s been great meeting people that I might eventually end up working with.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing my studies at the University and becoming a fully-fledged Paramedic.”

Anyone interested in studying for a Paramedic Science course or Apprenticeships at the University of Wolverhampton can still apply for courses starting this September or October.
