New psychology research centre launched

A new Centre for Psychological Research will be officially launched at the University of Wolverhampton next week.

The event will provide opportunities to build links with stakeholders and the local community and Professor Andrew Przybylski, of the Oxford Internet Institute, will deliver the keynote talk on the topic of digital technologies and wellbeing in young people.

The research centre launch will showcase the diverse research activities of staff and students via a series of engaging research talks and poster presentations in areas including health, cyber, cognitive, social and community psychology.

The event will also feature Professor Maria Uther’s inaugural lecture on the topic of ‘Sound, Speech and their interaction with technology’.

Professor Uther will also launch her new book on 'Mobile Learning' and Drs Chris Fullwood and Alison Attrill-Smith will launch their newly published textbook ‘The Oxford Handbook of Cyberpsychology’.

Professor Uther, Head of the Centre, said: “It’s my pleasure to welcome the local community to see our research in Psychology at Wolverhampton in action. The event will undoubtedly be a treat for those interested in a diverse range of topics in Psychology that have practical application in our day to day lives.”

The launch event will take place on the University of Wolverhampton’s main city campus on Tuesday May 21 from 9.30am, with Professor Uther's talk taking place at 5.30pm.
