An outstanding University of Wolverhampton Associate Professor has been shortlisted for a national award.

Dr Debra Cureton, Research Development Manager, supports the ongoing development of University’s Doctoral College and works with both staff and postgraduate students.

National websites FindAMasters.com and FindAPhD.com have just announced the shortlist for their 2019 Postgrad Awards and Dr Cureton is a finalist in the category PhD Supervisor of the Year.

More than 140 nominations were received for the awards and a judging panel of education experts shortlisted and will be selecting the winners.

Dr Cureton, one of six finalists in her category, said: “I am truly honoured to have been nominated.  The nomination was made by research students at the University, some of whom I supervise and some of whom I work with in researcher development sessions.  It is good to know that what I do supports the development of our researchers."

The winner of the award will received a trophy and be featured in the e-newsletter for the websites, which goes out to over 87,000 people, and blog pages. Their winning application, and their course and opportunities will be showcased in the content.

Andy Pritchard, Managing Director of FindAUniversity Ltd., said: “Our Postgrad Awards underline our continuous commitment to celebrate postgraduate students and staff. We want to showcase their achievements and recognise them for not only their academic merit or teaching excellence but for everything else that comes with being a postgraduate student. We have been overwhelmed with the number of high-quality entries and reading the stories and experiences that aren’t always shared but are hugely inspiring.”
