Art and Architecture on show in Stafford

06/08/2019

The University of Wolverhampton in Stafford, in partnership with the School of Art and the School of Built Environment, is hosting the inaugural Stafford Art, Design and Architecture Exhibition.

Open until Saturday 31 August 2019, the exhibition showcases student work produced throughout the academic year.

The exhibition in Stafford includes a small selection of graduate work from a diverse range of art, design and screen-based disciplines.

The exhibition is free to the public and is open between 10am and 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays.

The University of Wolverhampton in Stafford Centre Co-ordinator, Trevor Humphreys, said: "This is the first of our joint exhibitions in the centre of Stafford.

"Not only will there be an excellent array of work on display created by students, but it will also give an insight into the courses which are available for all ages."

Maggie Ayliffe, Head of the Wolverhampton School of Art, said: "Students at Wolverhampton School of Art enjoy some of the best workshop and studio facilities in the country, and work in this show demonstrates the scale and ambition of work undertaken in Fine Art, Photography, Glass and Ceramics and Fashion & Textiles.

"Our product, interior, graphic designers and illustrators are working at a professional level using the latest software, technology and materials to respond to exciting live briefs and client focused solutions to design problems.

"The Wolverhampton School of Art provides students with the time, space and knowledge to develop their own practice within a supportive environment made up of peers, researchers, practitioners and experts from inside and outside the University.

"We hope this exhibition gives a flavour of how students build on our facilities and subject expertise to develop their own style and approaches to contemporary art and design practice."

Dr David Heesom, Reader in Building Information Modelling in the School of Architecture, said: "Having the ability to showcase our work in Stafford is a perfect opportunity to highlight the amazing work our students in the Architecture department are undertaking.

"It gives opportunity for a wider audience to see the quality that students on our range of accredited courses produce and gives an insight into the Architecture, Architectural Design Technology and Interior Architecture and Property Development programmes.”
