15/02/2018

School pupils were given an insight into the legal, social and economic aspects of crime during a two-day event at the University of Wolverhampton.

More than 200 children took part in the Aspire to HE event, which featured interactive workshops and discussions around crime, society and business.

The aim of the conference was to enable Year 9 -13 pupils to experience life as a University student.

Sukhninder Panesar, Head of the University of Wolverhampton Law School, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local school pupils to the University for this interactive event.

“The conference aimed to give participants insights into different aspects of crime from the viewpoint of law, criminology, business, marketing and sociology. The activities and workshops were designed to ignite an interest and enthusiasm about subjects that shed light on our understanding of crime and create an aspiration to study these subjects at University.”

The conference began with insights from University academics and researchers about the legal, social and business aspects of crime, before students took part in interactive workshops.

The conference took place at the Lord Swraj Paul Business School on 12 and 13 February 2018.
