Photography students give clothing company maximum exposure

Students at the University of Wolverhampton fashioned a photography shoot for a local clothing company recently with the aim of giving the brand maximum exposure.

Three Photography degree students studying at the Wolverhampton School of Art worked on a live client brief for Wolverhampton-based, Cro’Jack Clothing. Cro’Jack was originally set up in 2009 using British craftsmanship to design and manufacture clothes at its main factory in Wolverhampton.

The live brief included client briefings and meetings with key managers at the factory.  Students pitched their ideas and presented their portfolios.  They were also responsible for choosing locational and studio clothing shoots covering image, lighting, clothing and model design and styling.

Daljit Mehat, Managing Director at Cro’Jack, said: “With the British Isles drenched in maritime history, Cro’Jack’s collection focuses on a nautical feel, paying homage to its origins.  We wanted to create a new Social Media campaign that really focuses on the heritage of our clothing using memorable locations.

“It was a real pleasure to work alongside Photography students on this project.  We asked them to use our clothing on a lifestyle photography shoot of their choosing. The work we received was of an excellent standard.  The pictures were high quality, set in beautiful locations and well edited.”

Dr Peter Day, Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “For the live project, students gained access to all Cro’Jack’s latest designs and garments. This provided the students with an excellent opportunity to build their professional and commercial portfolios whilst working with a real client. The student produced images are now live and part of the branding for Cro’Jack 2017 on Social Media.”

Students Rebecca Newell, Yasmin Qureshi and Amber Scarisbrick took part in the project brief, working closely with Daljit Mehat, MD, Mark Jackson, the Marketing Manager and Gina Wilkes, Head of Technical and Design at Cro’Jack.
