Net a place at University with special open day

07/02/2017

The University of Wolverhampton will be holding an open day with a difference this coming weekend – for people interested in netball.

The Netball Open Day is being held on Saturday 11 February between 3pm and 5pm at the University’s Walsall Campus Sports Centre.

The event is aimed at those who want to carry on playing netball to a high standard while at university, offering attendees the chance to explore academic and sports facilities, as well as finding out what sporting scholarships are available to help support successful students.

Netball is one of the four key development sports at the University of Wolverhampton along with football, basketball and judo.

The University aims to provide pathways from junior level right through to the top level and for the University to attract elite athletes. It has already created a number of partnerships with professional bodies and clubs, including Netball Superleague team Wasps Netball.

Following the open event, Wasps Under-19s will play Manchester Thunder at the Walsall Campus Sports Centre at 5:30pm, followed by a friendly between Wasps Netball against England Nets at 7:15pm.

Julie Dolman, Head Coach for Netball at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The netball open day is a great way to come and find out how you can study and continue to play netball to a high standard.

“The Netball Programme at the University of Wolverhampton allows participants access to great facilities and coaching, physio and sports science support, to play in the University’s BUCs team and provides a potential route to be involved with a superleague netball side.”
