Senior nurse shares expertise

03/04/2017

One of country’s most senior nurses shared her knowledge and experience with the next generation of specialist community nurses at the University of Wolverhampton.

Dr Lisa Bayliss Pratt is Director of Nursing at Health Education England and spoke to future school nurses, health visitors, district nurses and practice nurses at the University on Thursday, 30 March 2017.

Lisa, who was previously a Principal Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton until 2010, shared her insights into leadership in nursing.

She said: “The advice I would give to the next generation of specialist nurses is that we are at the forefront of delivering the future models of care and it is now time for us to be recognised for being flexible, diverse and committed to patients getting the best care possible. There are great opportunities in nursing now, let’s make the most of it – the sky’s the limit.”

Dr Sarah Sherwin, Principal Lecturer and Head of Community Nursing, said: “We were delighted to welcome Lisa Bayliss Pratt back to the University to talk to our specialist practice community nursing students about leadership.

“It was a really interesting and thought-provoking lecture which inspired considerable discussion and debate. The students were delighted that Lisa was able to take time out of her busy schedule to come and share her experiences of nursing leadership and future models of service provision with us.”
