Visual effects academy award winner has honorary degree in sight

13/09/2016

An award winning visual effects specialist in film has received an Honorary Degree from the University of Wolverhampton.

Peter Bebb, who has worked on films such as Batman Returns, Dark Knight and Captain America, received his award from the Faculty of Arts at a graduation ceremony recently held at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

The Honorary Doctor of Arts was presented in recognition of Peter’s successful film career following his graduation from the University where he studied for a degree in Woods, Metals and Plastics (3D).

Peter, who works for one of the world’s leading visual effects (VFX) film companies, said: "It is a great pleasure to be recognised for the work I do and a testament to the education I received. A huge thank you to the University of Wolverhampton for this honour.”

Multi-award winning Pete Bebb joined fledgling film visual effects (VFX) company, Double Negative in 1998. Nineteen years later, Double Negative is one of the world’s leading film VFX houses and Peter one of their most acclaimed Facility VFX supervisors.

Two years after beginning his career at Double Negative as the company’s first runner, Pete started working as sequence supervisor and CG supervisor on films such as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, World Trade Center and Captain America. In 2009, Peter worked as co-Facility VFX supervisor on Inception, for which he was recognised with an Academy Award, BAFTA and VES award. He continued his working relationship with Christopher Nolan as co-Facility VFX supervisor on The Dark Knight Rises (for which he was BAFTA nominated) before taking on Facility VFX supervisor duties on Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.

Most recently, Peter completed work as Facility VFX supervisor on Terminator: Genisys, where his work included re-producing fan-favourite the T1000 and designing and creating a brand new terminator (the T3000). Peter is currently working as Facility VFX supervisor on the hotly anticipated film adaption of JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, due for release in November 2016.
