Honour for TV star Suzi Perry

TV star and sports presenter Suzi Perry has been honoured for her achievements in broadcasting by the University of Wolverhampton.
Suzi currently covers MotoGP for BT Sport, and is well known for covering MotoGP for the BBC for 13 years as well as her work on The Gadget Show on Channel 5 and the BBC's Formula One coverage from 2013 to 2015.
The University of Wolverhampton graduate added an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Engineering to her list of accolades on Monday, 19 September 2016.
The award recognises her impressive record in the field of broadcasting, her passion for science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and her work encouraging the next generation of budding entrepreneurs.
Suzi, who received her award at a graduation ceremony at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, said: “It’s such an honour to be recognised in this way and it is really special that it has come from the University of Wolverhampton, in my home town. To be stood amongst hundreds of students who have achieved so much and have such exciting futures ahead of them, makes me really proud. One of the most rewarding things I do is support young people, whether they are budding entrepreneurs or wanting to get into television, or sporting events, and so to be acknowledged for that is really lovely.”
Suzi Perry is a broadcast journalist who was born and educated in Wolverhampton. She is most recently known for fronting the BBC’s coverage of Formula One over three years and also for her shows on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live.
However, her media career has spanned two decades; since her early years as a Sky Sports pit-lane reporter for World Superbike, Speedway and MotoGP, Suzi’s career has covered many different sports lifestyle, science and technology shows, including fronting The Gadget Show for eight years.
Her writtencredentials include columns in The Telegraph and The Times.
Suzi studied BA (Hons) Businessand Finance at the University ofWolverhampton, and has a closeconnection to the city where her familyis still based.
She is a high profilespokesperson for Wolverhampton (anda passionate supporter of the football team!) and is one of the “Famous Sons and Daughters” of the town.
Suzi is currently presenting on BTSport and developing documentaries for radio and television. She also continues to support various charities, working closely with Water Aid, The Alzheimer’s Society and Wolverhampton-based children’s charity Promise Dreams.
The University awards Honorary Degrees to high-profile figures that make a significant contribution to their field of expertise.
