International partnership agreed

An international partnership which enables students from the Netherlands to gain work experience in West Midlands companies will be expanded through an agreement with the University of Wolverhampton.

Students from Nova College in Haarlem are able to gain vocational placements in industry around the West Midlands and also experience student life in the UK through the deal.

More than 110 students have been placed over the last five years, and a memorandum of understanding was recently signed to celebrate the partnership and formalise the relationship for the future.

Nova College students from a variety of disciplines including healthcare, engineering and architecture join the University of Wolverhampton for three to five months. As well as work experience, the students have access to English language sessions with the International Academy at the University.

David Edwards, International Co-ordinator, said: “We’re delighted to have sealed our already successful partnership with Nova College by signing this agreement for the next five years. International students are a valuable part of our community, and it is always a pleasure to welcome Nova students to the University.

“We’re committed to providing opportunities for students and graduates to gain meaningful work experience so we’re really looking forward to developing our links with industry in the West Midlands to provide exciting placements.”

Nova College ROC, based in The Netherlands, provides vocational education and basic and secondary education. With 900 employees they provide courses for 16,000 people above the age of 16.
