Law firm’s sponsorship deal with university races into action

03/11/2016

A Midlands law firm has unveiled a new sponsorship deal to keep the University of Wolverhampton’s Formula 3 team on the winning track.

FBC Manby Bowdler, which has its headquarters in the city, has signed a three-year agreement with the team that will include sponsorship of the F3 Cup racing car, an annual bursary for one female engineering student, and an engineering prize to be awarded in the law firm’s name.

The University of Wolverhampton Racing Team offers an important opportunity for students to gain industry experience working as a professional team in competitive motorsport. It is part of the University’s commitment to produce graduates who can apply both theory and practice in industry.

Neil Lloyd, Sales Director at FBC Manby Bowdler, said: “We are delighted to have secured a long-term partnership with the University’s racing team. The team display many of the firm’s own values so the partnership is a perfect fit.

“The level of teamwork and commitment on display during this past season was incredible and the way the team continually strives for excellence is a credit to them. We look forward to supporting the team throughout the next season and beyond.”

University of Wolverhampton Racing recently finished second in this season’s MSV F3 Cup. The team competed at world famous tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch, Donington Park and the home of British Grand Prix, Silverstone.

A £12 million investment in the University’s engineering facilities at its Telford Innovation Campus in Priorslee is currently underway, creating world class education facilities for engineering students including industry standard design, development and testing facilities as well as Motorsport workshops.

Team Principal David Tucker said: “We’re really pleased to announce our latest partnership with Wolverhampton based FBC Manby Bowdler. With committed sponsors on board, our students are gaining hands-on experience and practical engineering knowledge as well as having the opportunity to compete in national competitions.

“We’re incredibly proud of the team’s amazing success in their debut season, and we’re really looking forward to working with our sponsors and driver Shane Kelly to achieve further success in the coming years.”

The new partnership was officially launched at a reception at The Light House, Chubb Buildings, Wolverhampton, on October 27.
