University to be part of famous air show

The University of Wolverhampton has confirmed it is to be a key sponsor for the 2016 RAF Cosford Air Show.
The event on Sunday June 19 2016 attracts more than 55,000 people every year and this year’s key theme is speed.
Alongside the fast jets, helicopters and historic aircraft the University will be showcasing its portfolio of racing cars including the University of Wolverhampton Racing team’s F3 Cup car, last year’s Formula Renault car, the Formula Student car and the latest addition – its Morgan racing car.
The racing team used the recent air show launch day to carry out testing on its F3 car on the taxi way at Cosford ahead of the start of the season at the end of this month.
The University’s Science Shack team will be based in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) hangar performing a range of experiments for families.
And each of the University’s four faculties will be resident in the 1950s Vintage Village. Experts from the War Studies department will be on hand to give an insight in to The Battle of the Somme 100 years on, staff and students from nursing and education will provide a throwback to 1950s medicine and classrooms and student musical groups with a fifties theme will be performing throughout the day.
Tickets for the event can only be bought in advance. Adults are £25 each and children under-16s are free accompanied with an adult.
