They managed to raise £28,150 after organising a wide variety of activities including music events, gala evenings, auctions and family fun days, meaning that the overall total raised by Business School students over the past three and a half years now stands at £78,000.

The funds raised this year were in aid of four charities in the West Midlands area - Compton Hospice, Acorns Children’s Hospice, the Steve Bull Foundation, and St Anthony’s Home in Penn, Wolverhampton.

Particular fundraisers were also celebrated at the exhibition.

The “Super Six” – second year Business and Management students at the University of Wolverhampton’s Business School -organised six different fundraising events in a highly creative way, raising £1,600 for Acorn’s Hospice in the process. They scooped the ‘Creativity Award’ for their efforts.

A group from Wolverhampton College – a partner of the University of Wolverhampton - were also lauded after setting a new record. Six students combined to raise almost £2,800, an achievement which saw them picking up the ‘Fundraisers Award’ sponsored by Fabweld Steel Products, Telford.

Barry Whitehouse, Senior Lecturer in Enterprise and Strategic Management at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “I’m incredibly proud of all the students who have worked so hard in their fundraising endeavours. Since starting the introductory enterprise module the students have raised almost £80,000 for local charities, a phenomenal amount. They’re a credit to the University and I’d like to publicly thank them for all their efforts.”
