New chair of the Centre for Research and Development in Lifelong Education

Professor Denis GleesonCRADLE is a new research centre focused on further education and lifelong learning which has been established by the University of Wolverhampton and the Institute of Learning (IfL).

Work at the centre will focus on research and development in key areas of policy and practice in the FE/post compulsory education and training (PCET) sector, encompassing teaching, learning, graduate and professional development and with an emphasis on the early years of a teacher or trainer’s career.

Prof Gleeson said: ''I am delighted to be coming to the University of Wolverhampton at an exciting time of its many research and development activities in the region. I am especially looking forward to working with an excellent team of colleagues in the new CRADLE centre in the School of Education Futures.''

Prof Gleeson is Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Warwick and a distinguished researcher, author and teacher in further and higher education.

He was previously Head of the School of Education at the University of Keele and, beforehand, taught in further, adult and higher education institutions in London.
