New overseas partnership for University

A delegation from the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Nigeria, recently visited the University to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and to sign a memorandum of understanding.

The delegation, which was led by the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State, Barrister John Odubela, paid a courtesy call on the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer.

The memorandum of understanding signed by the partners will open up future opportunities for the exchange of staff members, as well as the chance for Nigerian students to study at the University.

Also present in the delegation was the Rector of OGITECH, Professor Godwin Ejodame, who took the time to strongly advocate partnerships such as the one with the University of Wolverhampton and to state how important they are for the continual development taking place in Nigeria.

Speaking about the meeting, Professor Geoff Layer said: “The University of Wolverhampton values collaborations with diverse external partners such as OGITECH, and we’re absolutely delighted to form another international partnership with a fellow educational institution.

“It is vitally important that we meet the demand for higher education, both here in the UK and internationally, and I see this partnership as an important step in the right direction towards meeting these demands.”
