Student's logo lands national prize
Kelly-Anne Swift, a third year Learning Disability Nursing DipHE student, saw her design claim the “Modernising Learning Disability Logo” prize at the Positive Choices Conference 2013.
Kelly-Anne’s logo is going to be used nationally and internationally by the Scottish government steering group ‘Strengthening The Commitment’ in relation to learning disability nursing.
It is also to be used by England, Wales and Northern Ireland on their documentation for Learning Disability nursing.
Speaking about her success, Kelly-Anne Swift said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award. I entered the competition last year and was thrilled to be shortlisted, so to go one step further this year is just fantastic.
“I wanted my logo to depict the journey Learning Disability nurses are continuing to take which is why I chose the jigsaw design. I also wanted to make it easily accessible to both nurses and service users, which is why I chose bright bold colours to go with the illustration.
“I’m very proud to play my part making more people aware of the great work Learning Disability nurses do. It’s something I strive for, and I see this initiative as being a big part of fulfilling that aim.”
