Global poverty campaigners to visit University

Campaigners who are travelling around the world with a presentation to spread the message about global poverty are visiting the University of Wolverhampton as part of a special anniversary celebration.

The nationally acclaimed Global Poverty Project team will be coming to Wolverhampton on 30 March 2012 to present 1.4 Billion Reasons.

The presentation communicates the realities of extreme poverty and what can be done about it.

The Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is hosting the special event.

The presentation will be held at the Wolverhampton City Campus at 1pm.

Global Poverty is kindly providing the resources for this event, which is free to all staff, students and their guests.

Head of CIDT, Phil Dearden, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the Global Poverty Team to the University as part of our 40th birthday celebrations.

Based on leading research, the presentation articulates the facts of extreme poverty, and demonstrates that by making simple changes, everyone can be part of the solution.

Compelling and challenging, the presentation moves audiences to take action and become a part of the movement to end extreme poverty.

Based at the Telford Campus, the Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT) is a self-financing, non-profit making centre within the University. The team has a 40-year track record in people-centred, sustainable development across the globe.
