New fitness programme launched

15/04/2011

The pilot scheme run by the Sport, Fitness and Health Department is aimed at people aged between 16 and 25 who are fed up of trying to get fit and not achieving their goals.

Starting at the end of April and lasting for six weeks, the sports centres at the Wolverhampton City and Walsall campuses will be running a programme that will include personal trainer-led gym sessions, fitness classes, swimming, running and healthy eating / nutrition advice sessions.

Marc Brady, Sports Manager, said: “The entire six weeks will cost £10 and if you complete the programme then you will receive a t-shirt and one month’s gym membership to help you to continue on your path to fitness.”

This pilot programme is funded by Sportivate, which is controlled by Sport England, with the objective of engaging young people in regular activity and with a particular focus placed on those who do not do so frequently.

Places are limited, so anyone interested in participating can contact Tracy Nash (t.e.nash@wlv.ac.uk 01902 322372) for Wolverhampton or Marc Brady (m.brady@wlv.ac.uk 01902 518900) for Walsall.
