University to host prestigious festival

The Festival of Learning is an annual event organised by the Higher Education Academy Health Sciences and Practice Subject Centre.

The 2009 event will be hosted by the University’s School of Health at the Walsall Campus from March 10 to 12, 2009.

The aim of the Festival is to improve the quality of learning, teaching and assessment in health sciences and practice, both in work settings and in higher education.

Dr Alexandra Hopkins, Associate Dean in the School of Health, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for us to provide an effective work setting for this important conference. We are delighted to work with the Higher Education Academy to ensure healthcare education practitioners are able to share contemporary research and evidence based-practice that we hope will benefit healthcare students locally, regionally and nationally.”

The festival will feature high profile keynote presentations, workshops, and special interest groups.

This year’s event is titled is titled Engaging Students in Health Sciences and Practice Education, and will focus on key aspects of engaging students in areas such as assessment for learning, research and evaluation and also with employers.

The Festival is held annually in a different UK location.
