CGAMES 2009 is one of the leading research conferences devoted to the advancement of the theory and practice of games development.

The annual event is organised by Professor Qasim Mehdi, from the University’s School of Computing and Information Technology. This year’s conference is taking place at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, USA from Wednesday, July 29 until Sunday August 2.

Professor Mehdi said: “The main aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, games developers, sound, graphics, video, and animation developers, education and training industry, and students from around the world to exchange ideas on design methods, research and development, and programming techniques that are beneficial to the computer games industry and academia. Over the last decade, CGAMES has served the computer gaming community by promoting the advancement, innovation, and potential applications of computer games to other areas such as training, education, social, and health.

“Each event has a theme to reflect the major changes in the way in which digital games are developed and played, and this year’s theme is AI, Animation, Mobile, Interactive Multimedia, Educational & Serious Games.”

Last year’s conference was held at The Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton, UK.
