New link forged with Walsall College

23/12/2009

The University of Wolverhampton and Walsall College have signed a progression agreement which aims to provide increased higher education opportunities in architecture and product design.

As a result of the agreement, students on certain courses at Walsall College will be guaranteed an interview for relevant School of Engineering and the Built Environment (SEBE) courses if they are able to meet the minimum entry requirements.

Dr David Heesom, Director of Academic Studies at the University’s Architecture and Product Design Department, said: “We are excited to be forging greater links with the College and with the students studying on its excellent portfolio of design courses. We look forward to welcoming students from Walsall College onto the range of undergraduate degree courses offered by the Architecture and Product Design Department.”

Alex Reynolds, from Walsall College, said: “We look forward to the successes that arise through the progression agreement.”

The fundamental aim of the agreement is to clearly map out the higher education progression routes for level 3 BTEC and vocational learners studying architecture and design related courses at the College. Students can apply for both part and full time study through the Progression Agreement. They will benefit from shorter processing times when applying through this progression agreement.

This progression agreement has been developed by SEBE’s Recruitment and Lifelong Learning Unit as a result of increased collaboration with the College through progression agreements supported by the Birmingham, Black Country and Solihull Lifelong Learning Network.

The signing took place at the University and was attended by University and College staff.
