Uni earthquake expert featured on Central News

25/02/2008

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale was felt across Britain at 1am that morning, the biggest to hit the country since 1984. Although there was little damage caused, the earthquake was felt miles from the epicentre at Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, including in the Midlands where the University of Wolverhampton is based.

Dr Roberts, an Applied Geologist at the University’s School of Applied Sciences, explained what causes earthquakes, why this particular one was felt in the Midlands and whether animals are able to sense the tremors before they happen.
