Trick or Tourist Treat: Halloween in New Orleans
- When? 28 October 2020 , 6-7pm
- Where? online event
Dr Louise Fenton will explore Halloween in the Crescent City and consider the historical context that evolved into the celebrations seen today. It is often said that Halloween is now too commercialised or too 'Americanised', however, this talk will address this and question the origins of Halloween in the US. The culture and society of New Orleans is an eclectic mix of people and beliefs and on the streets of the French Quarter, Halloween blends cultural traditions to the sound of Jazz.
