The Łódź Ghetto was one of the longest existing ghettos in German occupied Eastern Europe. Created in early 1940, it was only in late summer 1944 that the last groups of Jews were deported from Łódź to Auschwitz. The lecture will explore the importance of labour for the survival of the ghetto until 1944; the role of the head of the Jewish Council, Mordechai Chaim Rumkowski; and last but not least the fate of the children.
Places are FREE but need to be pre-booked.
