Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the moon landings at Space Day! There's something for everyone to enjoy.
Unleash the inner astronaut in you with FREE interactive activities and exhibitions, including hands on interactive table top activities provided by University of Wolverhampton's STEm Response Team. Question the experts on all aspect of the universe and Space. Take an immersive 3D virtual reality planet walk. Observe static rocket firings, learn about weightlessness, what astronauts eat, how they go to the toilet and live in Space, try your skills with controlling robots. Experts from the University of Worcester will be exploring the challenges of using robots to explore planets such as Mars. Watch demonstrations and optical illusions from the University of Wolverhampton. Find out about Britain's Space program, check out the sky through a telescope with Bromsgrove Astronomical Society and take a photo in our space rocket Selfie booth.
Check into The Studio for the exciting screening for the unique filming of "Space Queens". This free 25 minute film takes an in depth look at the women behind Apollo 11 and the next generation inspired by the historical monumental event, to pursue careers in aerospace. This documentary features a mix of new and archive interviews to tell a story of equality at the heart of the space race. Book onto talks one of which is by David Hardy one of the world's distinguished space artists. He was a regular illustrator on Patrick Moore’s Sky at Night Programme, and for Arthur C Clarke and other classic books. He has documented ALL of our spaceflight history as it happened.
