Audio Visual (AV) kit

Using the AV kit

If using a room with an AV lectern or cabinet, this will contain a PC that is connected to the large screen or projector, a main control panel that you can control inputs from, plug your laptop into and activate a document camera or visualiser. Sound controls can also be found on the control panel.

Our advice is always to make time to familiarise yourself with the AV kit you will be using before your teaching session or meeting.

There will also be a wall mounted guide in each room and accompanying labels on the AV desk to guide you.

If you are new to the University or are unsure about using the equipment, please book support in advance to allow someone to go through the equipment with you prior to your session. You can book support via our IT Portal (This link will open in a new window).

Get AV help quickly from a teaching room!

Booking support

Book support in advance if you need it.

If you are running a session that requires one of our team to support you, please book this as early as you can using the IT Portal (This link will open in a new window).

Drop in refresher sessions

We regularly run drop-in sessions to refresh your AV skills, and re-familiarise yourself with the technology. Please get in touch with us via the IT Portal (This link will open in a new window) if you would like a drop-in session on AV.

Duplicating or extending your screen displays

The Audio Visual technology used in teaching rooms, is similar across the University. When using your own equipment, rather than the AV PC, it is important to make sure you have the correct display setup. We recommend having your display duplicate rather than extend (This link will open in a new window).
