This table shows what type of support is offered for different types of hardware. If an item of hardware is not listed, it is likely to be unsupported by IT Services but may be supported at Type 2. Any field support relates to University Campuses only.
Please contact the IT Service Desk on ext. 2000 (01902-322000) in the first instance if you need to purchase new hardware.
Support of all University standard hardware and software. Telephone assistance with quick-fix questions that cannot be found in the help. Resolving faults relating to failed hardware & infrastructure. Resetting of corrupt software set-ups.
Support for the installation and continued operation of agreed specialist hardware and software, but not its use in any detail.

For Standard Desktop:
Intel 865 motherboard/chipset
Support is for specific models running our standard desktop only.
Faulty systems will not be repaired.

120 Gb Hard Drive
2 Gig Ram
17" TFT monitor
New desktop PCs must be agreed with IT Services and purchased through approved suppliers, via the National Desktop and Notebook Agreement (NDNA).
|HP Laserjet Printers up to 5 years old||1||For staff without access to MFD printing, new printers should be agreed with IT Services and purchased through approved suppliers.|
|HP Inkjet Printers up to 3 years old||1||Inkjet printers are not recommended for normal use due to high running costs. Staff are expected to use the Multi-function Printers when available. Please discuss any specific printing requirements with IT Services.|
|Approved Notebook and Netbook PCs up to 3 years old||1||
New purchases must be agreed with IT Services.
Standard supported configuration available on selected Toshiba notebooks only.
|Apple Mac Systems||2||
New Apple Macs should be purchased with a 3 year warranty through the national HE Apple hardware contract.
Apple systems are not currently supported for access to corporate services.
|Silicon Graphics Machines||No support is available.|
|Smart Phones||2||Assistance/support with configuring a limited range of supported phones to Exchange server for email and calendar. Also see our advice on Ordering Smartphones.|
|Tablets - iPad, Android etc.||Not supported beyond connectivity to University wireless network.|
|Any personally owned Computer System||
No support is available.
