Information for students from Canada

Foundation Programme

We offer the 4 Year International Foundation Year integrated degree routes in Arts; Education, Health and Wellbeing; Science and Engineering and Social Sciences are designed for international students (or for students for whom English is not their first language).

This route will suit students whose qualifications fall below the entry requirements to undergraduate study and/or those whose English language level does not meet the minimum criteria. The 4 year integrated  courses prepare students in academic subjects, English language and study skills enabling progression onto most undergraduate degree courses at the University of Wolverhampton, subject to professional body requirements.

Please note: you only need to take a foundation programme if your qualifications are not suitable for your chosen degree.

Undergraduate

The University considers students for undergraduate study are required to obtain 

  • High School Diploma/Certificate of Achievement with 65% average across 5 grade 12 subjects (Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, North West Territories, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan) 
  • Certificate of Graduation with 67% average across 5 grade 12 subjects (British Colombia, Yukon Territory) 
  • High School Diploma with 65% average across 5 credits (some classes may be worth 1 credit or 0.5 credits) at Level 40 or higher (Manitoba) 
  • High School Diploma with 73% across 5 grade 12 subjects (new Brunswick)

Postgraduate

For entry to a postgraduate degree programme (Master's) at the University of Wolverhampton, students typically need to have completed an undergraduate degree (Honours Bachelor degree or Professional degree) at an accredited university or college. Exact requirements will depend on the postgraduate degree you are applying for and the institution you have studied at. 

  • For programmes that require a UK Second Class Honours Second Division (2:2), a minimum score 7/9 (from a 9 point scale) 
  • For programmes that require a UK Second Class Honours First Division (2:1), a minimum score 5/9 (from a 9 point scale)

Foundation - English Language requirements:

Standard English Language Requirements - IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components or equivalent

Undergraduate - English Language requirements:

Standard English Language requirements - IELTS 6.0 or equivalent or Applicants for the Undergraduate Programmes need to obtain 65% in their High School Grade 11 English or 65% High School Grade 12 English.

Postgraduate - English Language requirements:

Standard English Language requirements - IELTS 6.5 or equivalent or Applicants for the Postgraduate Programmes need to obtain 75% in their High School Grade 12 English

Pre-sessional English and Academic Skills

If you need to raise your English language skills, you can attend one of our intensive Pre-sessional English and Academic Skills course Satisfactory achievement on one of these courses can be used to meet the University of Wolverhampton's English language entry requirements in place of other external language examinations.
