What Do Student Officers Do?

  • Full-time paid role for one year (July to July)
  • Salary of £20,162
  • Represent students at all levels – from university decision-making to national campaigns
  • Lead campaigns for positive change affecting student life
  • Meetings are a big part of the job, often at senior university levels

As part of your role, you’ll also be a trustee of the SU, ensuring its financial, legal, and reputational health. You'll help set strategy, manage risks, and oversee SU activities. Find out more.


International Students – You Can Stand!

  • International students with a Student visa are encouraged to stand for election and take a Student Officer role.
  • The University of Wolverhampton can continue to sponsor you during your year as a Student Officer.


Visa Information for International Students

  • If you’re elected, you can request a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to make a visa application for the time you'll be in the role.
  • You can work as a Student Officer before completing your course, but you will need to take a leave of absence from any remaining study. This must be approved by your Faculty, so make sure to speak to your personal tutor for guidance.
