The Refugee Project is a partnership between Wolverhampton Refugee & Migrant Centre (WRMC), University of Wolverhampton (International Academy), University of Wolverhampton Chaplaincy and Transforming Communities Together (a partnership between the Urban Church Fund and Lichfield Diocese).
The aim of the project is to provide English Language courses for Asylum seekers, refugees and migrants who are living in or near Wolverhampton, and access support through WRMC.
Classes will run for 6 weeks, delivering English language lessons to 2 different groups: one of those with no English at all, and one for those with limited English. The two groups will come together each lunchtime, to have a 'sharing lunch', breaking down feelings of isolation.
The project has been funded by the Urban Church Fund, and the University is keen to see how the project could be expanded and continued beyond the pilot project.
