Alistair Macdonald was originally a graduate in Classical Languages and has been teaching English as a Foreign Language since working in Athens in the late seventies.

He has significant teaching and training experience in the private sectors in Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands and has taught in both State Primary and Secondary Schools and FE Colleges in the U.K..  He has visited Cyprus and China in a professional capacity on a number of occasions and in recent years has been teaching and counselling large groups of international students on the University's English Language Programmes.  He is currently Course Leader for the University's International Foundation Programme.  He is an external examiner for the Northern Consortium in Manchester and has acted as an external advisor for the universities of Gloucester, Derby and Greenwhich.


Alistair's academic interests are English for Business, Content Based Language Learning and Motivational Issues with EAP students.
