International Foundation Year



The International Foundation Year is designed for international students who wish to study for a degree in their chosen Faculty at the University of Wolverhampton but don't have the right qualifications to move straight onto a degree course. It develops the skills you need for studying at degree level and provides the opportunity to experience University life, preparing you for the next level in your studies.








International Foundation Year options

You can choose from one of four International Foundation Years, depending on your interests and the degree you would like to move on to. To find out what your chosen course involves, including information on entry requirements, fees and to apply, please select from the following:

Internatonal Foundation Year -  Full-time (1 year study option)

BA (Hons) with International Foundation Year -  Full-time (4 year study option)


Employability and Progression

The aim of this course is to allow successful candidates to progress onto a degree programme in their chosen subject at the University of Wolverhampton [or at another UK University which recognises the programme], subject to course and professional body requirements, which will serve to enhance their employment opportunities in the future.  (Please seek advice from the Course Leader of your chosen degree course).

We are very pleased that most International Foundation Year students stay with us to continue onto their chosen degree programmes  but should you wish to progress to another University we have a progression agreements with the following Universities provided you meet their conditions:

  • Evidence of a completed High School Certificate with satisfactory results.
  • Successful completion of the Foundation Programme at the University of Wolverhampton with a minimum grade of 60/65% for most Oxford Brookes University undergraduate programmes.  Oxford Brookes University may also require minimum marks on specific modules.
  • Fully completed UCAS application form, with an appropriate personal statement and good academic references from tutors.
  • Proof of English language proficiency.  For most programmes this will be an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading and Writing.  Law and Psychology require IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in Reading and Writing.

We are also very pleased to have a progression agreement with Brighton University for their Undergraduate Business courses only, subject to conditions which include WEPE/IELTS 6 overall with 6 in writing and minimum 5.5 in other areas.

We are also  having ongoing discussions with several other institutions.
