Jakarta Alumni Reunion Celebrates Lifelong Bonds and Lasting Impact of Wolverhampton Education

Alumni from the University of Wolverhampton’s Leadership and Management for Reinventing Government programme reunited in Jakarta this August, celebrating enduring friendships and shared memories.
In August 2025, a group of the University of Wolverhampton’s alumni in Indonesia gathered once again in Jakarta for a heartfelt reunion organised by alumnus Satria Nusantara. The event brought together graduates of the Leadership and Management for Reinventing Government programme, delivered under the UK–Indonesia grant cooperation between 1998 and 2003.
The group, who completed their studies between April and May 1999, continues to meet regularly - twice a year - to celebrate enduring friendships and reflect on the life-changing experience they shared at Wolverhampton. More than a reunion, the gathering was a celebration of community, knowledge, and mutual support.
“This university wasn’t just a place to learn. It was where we built lifelong friendships,” said Satria. “It was a place to source knowledge, benchmark science, and learn best practice.”
The alumni, many of whom now work in public service and related sectors, originally undertook the programme to enhance leadership, teamwork, and communication in government management. Today, their discussions span both personal updates and professional matters, including the growth of livestock and animal health in Indonesia.
Satria fondly recalled, “People in Wolverhampton were friendly and easy to communicate with. Visiting historical UK sites, especially Edinburgh and royal landmarks, was an amazing memory.”
The Jakarta gathering was a powerful reminder of the role Wolverhampton played in shaping futures, not just professionally, but personally. It showcased how education abroad can build lasting global ties rooted in shared purpose, pride, and friendship.
