LOWRI WALKER: GRADUATE KICKS OFF CAREER

19/09/2019

Football hero Lowri Walker is ready to kick off a successful career after completing her sports degree.

WLV Women's captain Lowri studied a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science at the University's Walsall Campus.

During her time at University, Lowri was announced as one of eight Higher Education Football and Futsal heroes by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

The BUCS #HEHeroes project recognises workforce volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their role and contribution to the women's game.

The 21-year-old also travelled to Barcelona as part of a select group of leading footballers from women's football clubs at UK universities.  The programme, organised by Santander Universities, was designed to help build critical thinking and management skills for female talent, both through sporting and wider leadership activity.

The central midfielder was also selected to play for the English Universities squad and was a University of Wolverhampton Sports Scholar.

Lowri, from Aberystwyth, is now looking ahead to training to be a physiotherapist.

She said: "To be graduating feels amazing - what an accomplishment. I feel really proud of myself and I am glad to have spent my time here at Wolverhampton.

"My favourite memories of my time here are the sport side of things. Being part of the women's football team and being on the scholarship programme. I think those are the stand out moments and where I have succeeded the most, and had the most support."
