Commonwealth Judo Championships - Wednesday 25 - Sunday 29 September 2019

24/09/2019

More than 1,000 international Judo stars are heading to the University of Wolverhampton's Walsall Campus this week to compete at the 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championships.

The University is preparing to welcome athletes from 20 countries at the campus, which is home to British Judo's Centre of Excellence and the event will be delivered in partnership with Walsall Council.

This is the first time the University has hosted an international sporting event of this size, and it is a prestigious moment for us.

If you study at, or are travelling to, Walsall Campus over the next few days, here's some information that you will find helpful.

British Judo Performance Hub; WJ Building; William Penny Brookes Building (WD).

Catering

The Marquee is open for breakfast from 8:30am until 6pm Thursday to Saturday, and 8:30am to 4pm on Sunday.

We are open for breakfast rolls and hot drinks - meal deal £3.

We then open at 11:30 am for lunch where we are offering jacket potatoes, chicken sour dough chicken wraps, a selection of burgers, and vegetarian options.

Car Parking

All judo event traffic is being directed to the park and ride operating out of Walsall FC's Bescot Stadium. The Broadway entrance to Walsall Campus will be staffed at all times during the event by University staff to safeguard smart parking. If you're on campus on the weekend, the judo event traffic will be using campus car parks. We expect the roads in Walsall to be busier during the Championships.
