Believe, Belong, Achieve: listening to BAME students’ educational experiences
Hosted by the University of Wolverhampton Students’ Union and the University’s College of Learning and Teaching, this conference will provide a platform to listen to BAME students about their educational experiences at the University. Their stories will be presented in a variety of ways, with the aim of gaining greater insight into BAME students’ perceptions and how these are linked to a sense of belonging.
Amatey Doku (former Vice President for Higher Education, NUS) will present the main findings of the recent report by Universities UK and the NUS- ‘Black, Asian and minority ethnic student attainment at UK universities: #ClosingtheGap'
The SU Officers will also launch their campaign ‘Believe, Belong, Achieve’. This campaign focuses around celebrating BAME students’ success, by highlighting profiles of BAME students and alumni.
The conference will run between 1:30 – 3:30pm, with refreshments available from 1pm. A detailed programme for the day will be released closer to the date.
All staff and students are welcome.
