Student Policies: Understanding Fee, Liability & Credit Controls
The Fee, Liability and Credit Control policy outlines your responsibilities with respect to paying your fees and describes what will happen in the event of you being overdue with a payment. Watch this video for a brief overview of the policy.
You'll be liable for your fees from the outset of your course with further liability points dependant upon the course that you're studying.
It's absolutely vital that you pay your fees on time. Failure to do so with a fee becoming overdue can result in withdrawal from your course. Where you become overdue with your fees, you will receive reminders from the finance team. From the 28th day from your invoice being overdue you will have notification of a provisional withdrawal. You will then have a subsequent 14 days to either make the payment or get in touch with income section of the finance department, in order to put some plans in place for future payment.
If you're an international student, you should be aware that your Visa sponsorship is dependent upon the payment of your fees.
If your fees are paid by a sponsorship or Student Finance England, the University will work with those organisations to ensure payment.
For those of you who are sponsored by an employer, you will become liable for those fees if your employer doesn't make payment.
