Breastfeeding exhibition comes to City
Student midwives are bringing a special art exhibition to celebrate breastfeeding to Wolverhampton.
As part of the Baby Friendly Initiative, the University has 27 student ambassadors to raise awareness of breastfeeding, its benefits and the support available to families.
Following the success of the exhibition at Walsall Campus recently, the student ambassadors were keen to bring the display to City Campus.
The breastfeeding display will be exhibited in the foyer of MC building from Monday, 19 November 2018.
The exhibition features paintings, selfies and sculptures that have been created or shared by students on the BSc (Hons) Midwifery course.
A successful bake sale was held at Walsall Campus raising £302 for equipment for the breastfeeding/expressing room. Another bake sale will be held at City Campus on Friday, 23 November in the foyer of MC building.
Midwifery Lecturer, Sophie-Louise Finnerty, said: “There will be lots of cakes and all things sweet with the proceeds going towards a great cause to give mothers a comfortable place to breastfeed/express their milk whilst studying or working.”
There will also be a forum for any members of staff or students who have had experience of breastfeeding/expressing while working or studying or who are pregnant and looking at their options to come together and discuss their experiences and thoughts.
This forum will take place at City Campus on Tuesday 20 November 12-1pm in room MC326. If anyone is unable to attend the meeting but would like to share their views then please contact Sophie-Louise Finnerty via email: S.Finnerty@wlv.ac.uk
