Laura lends her voice to Songs of Praise

Laura Wright, BMus (Hons) Music alumna from the University, recently sang with the Birmingham Voices choir on BBC's Songs of Praise alongside classical artiste Katherine Jenkins.

The choir sang at the Eastbourne Bandstand with worship leader Lou Fellingham leading the 1,000-strong congregation.

Talking about the experience, Laura - who works in the University's Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing as a Recruitment Administrator - said: "It was odd seeing myself on TV but it was a proud moment for me. I was even noticed by a few members of one of the other choirs I’m a member of – so I almost felt like a celebrity for a moment!

“I’m a proud member of the Birmingham Voices choir and it’s very exciting to have such prestigious names on our client list. It was a privilege to sing alongside Katherine Jenkins and I can only hope we work with her and Songs of Praise in the future.

“Being a music graduate I can only stress that having contacts is important – and that’s how this choir manage to clinch such big names."
