A grand success for the Iftar
The month of Ramadan is a time to come together to build community, express gratitude for what we have, offer charity and understanding, as well as learn from the experiences and faiths of one another.
On Monday 10 March, the University, in partnership with the Students' Union, hosted it's first Grand Iftar event, offering an opportunity for members of the Muslim and wider community to join together for prayers and to break fast. With over a hundred guests in attendance, the event was a grand success.
A panel discussion involving international students highlighted how they benefit from university support and facilities including prayer and ablution spaces, Student Life and Career services, as well as the pastoral guidance and welcoming community spirit found at the Chaplaincy and Students' Union. The panel reflected on the role of faith and spirituality in overcoming adversity and providing hope and motivation to preserve through studies and life beyond graduation.
