Coronavirus Update: Online Assessments: 19 March 2020

Students who have online assessments due over the next few months should submit them as normal through Canvas by the deadline specified.

If, however, you are experiencing any difficulties in meeting this deadline due to circumstances arising from the ongoing coronavirus situation, we have introduced a two week extension during which will NOT incur any penalty for late submission.  This is automatic and you do not need to apply.

If any student is unable to submit work by the extended deadline, we will look at offering a further opportunity to submit in July 2020.

Rest assured that we are committed where possible to providing you with assessment feedback within 20 days, but taking into consideration the extraordinary circumstances and the ever changing nature of the current situation, there may be some disruption to the feedback process.

If any students who have been offered a resit opportunity at Easter, either first or additional, you can defer this to July 2020 without incurring any penalty to your mark if you find yourself unable to attend.

Please be assured that we are working hard, in light of recent government announcements, to review our approach to face to face assessment and examinations during this time and we are actively exploring alternative methods to help you achieve success in your studies.

Your wellbeing continues to be the University’s priority and we encourage you to be mindful of your own health and that of your family and friends. We have resources and processes in place to ensure that advice and guidance and assistance is on hand if you need it.  Information is available here:

Please continue to check information on the dedicated coronavirus web pages and FAQs which now includes links to specific Schools and Institutes where regular updates will be posted about your courses.  A new series of FAQs on library services has been included today, giving you an overview of what resources are available to help you continue with your studies.

Thank you for your continued patience and co-operation during this time.
